Thetford's 'Big Trash Day' postponed

No decision will be made on re-scheduling the event until after July 1.

Thetford's 'Big Trash Day' postponed

Big Trash Day is normally hosted in the spring outside of the Thetford Town Garage in Thetford Center, but in an email to the Thetford Selectboard, Hamilton Gillet, Program/Outreach Coordinator for the Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District, wrote:

"The solid waste district (GUV) Board of Supervisors, at their regularly scheduled meeting yesterday, decided that GUV would not hold any collection events until after July 1 at the earliest. This decision was based on the current COVID situation and the fact that many Vermonters still have not been vaccinated.

"This decision means that GUV will not be able to hold our annual spring collection event for bulky waste, electronics, and tires. We are hoping that, in the second half of the year, we will be able to schedule some events to make up for the cancellations during the past year and a half. We will be in touch with you after July 1."
